Marcia, the Cat Lady

Radhika made me write that title. She wants you to know:

I'm back now, but was at Cedars for 10 days and took the Ifosfamide treatment - the worst of all the treatments. It's the longest. I have to wear a fanny pack for seven days and it makes me feel tired and sick. I got home Wednesday evening. I plan to feel better tomorrow after having some IV liquids.

I'm sorry to have missed the colloquium, and I miss everybody. I thought blogging would be a good idea, but that was when I was feeling well. I may not be able to blog regularly but I will try to now and then with help. All of our energy is being directed to healing.

Andre will try to post something soon about the treatment.

Thank you for all the presents and good wishes and food. We love you all. Keep us in your thoughts.

  1. I should have said that I was writing that post for Radhika. Sorry for any confusion. She dictated, and I wrote. She's such a trooper. Keep the positive thoughts headed her way!

  2. Radhika, don't apologize for not being able to write. We appreciate any update. Keep your energy and just know there are many people who love and care about you. We missed you at the colloquium and I can't begin to tell you how much we miss you in the Faculty Center. Pictures will be posted next week so you can at least see them. You are an amazing woman and I will continue to look up to you, my mentor. Hope to talk to you soon!
    Love, Teresa

  4. Hi Radhika- I really appreciate the updates from both you and Andre. I'm with my mom in Flordia and have been out of the loop a bit because my father passed away on March 24. He had been declining with Alzheimers for about 7 years, and though we were relieved his suffering is over it is still really painful But it does put things in perspective about how precious life is and how it is worth fighting for to have more time with those you love! so my energy is with you and the family.
can you or Andre send me your home address at kmoss@csusm.edu? I have something to send :)

  6. Dear Radhika, how lovely to hear your voice through the also lovely Marcia the Cat Lady!!!!!!!!!! thank you all for the updates. I am so sorry to hear how very rough it has been. I'm glad the GI pain is improving as for me that really dictated the "bearability" of the day....lots of love, Martha

  7. Radhika, to say that you were missed at the Colloquium dinner is an understatement. I wish you could have been there to see the visible wave of love and respect that overcame all of your colleagues at the mere mention of your name.

We had a mini-FLC meeting today in the Faculty Center lobby. At the end of the meeting, I suddenly noticed that there is a picture of you, Sonia, and Teresa that was watching over us as we were working. I very much liked that, as I still consider you to be the Captain of our motley crew.

    All my best,
    Stephen

  8. Darling, I don't care who posts or how many or few words it's contains...I hang on every word. I think of you often and send every bit of good vibe and peaceful heart that I can muster. Was working in my garden today, and it occurred to me that maybe you need a friend to pull weeds or bring and plant some flowers for your space? Have Andre call me, if so... There are so few things that I can do to help, but maybe that would give you something nice to look at if nothing else? Loving you....
